{"id":146,"date":"2015-07-25T02:59:14","date_gmt":"2015-07-25T00:59:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.unetresgrossebite.com\/?p=146"},"modified":"2015-07-25T03:00:21","modified_gmt":"2015-07-25T01:00:21","slug":"owncloud-pydio","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.unetresgrossebite.com\/?p=146","title":{"rendered":"OwnCloud &#038; Pydio"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You may have heard of OwnCloud\u00a0at least, if you&#8217;re not using one already. it with more than a couple users.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to a very fine web frontend, and several standalone clients allowing to to use your shares as a network file system, OwnCloud is user friendly, and could be trusted hosting hundreds of accounts, if not thousands.<br \/>\nThe solution was installed in Smile, by Thibaut (59pilgrim). I didn&#8217;t mind that much, back then, I was using Pydio, and pretty satisfied already. We had around 700 users, not all being active, yet I could see the whole thing was pretty reliable.<\/p>\n<p>Pydio is a good candidate to compare with OwnCloud. Both offer pretty much the same services. OwnCloud has lots of apps to do everything, Pydio has plugins. Both are PHP-based opensource projects, with fairly active communities.<br \/>\nSmall advantage to OwnCloud though, with his native <a href=\"https:\/\/doc.owncloud.org\/server\/8.0\/admin_manual\/enterprise_external_storage\/s3_swift_as_primary_object_store_configuration.html\">S3\u00a0connector<\/a>. And arguably, a better linux client and web experience.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, disappointed by Pydio &#8211; something about having \\n in file names, preventing files from being uploaded to my Pydio server &#8211; I gave a shot to OwnCloud.<br \/>\nI haven&#8217;t lost hope in Pydio yet, but OwnCloud is definitely easier to deal with: I could even recommend it to a novice Linux enthusiast.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You may have heard of OwnCloud\u00a0at least, if you&#8217;re not using one already. it with more than a couple users.
